₊˚♬ οΎ. MUSIC AND ME ₊˚♬ οΎ.
There's something about performing as a singer that makes me feel most like myself and I've found that these experiences have been the building blocks that have helped me grow as a person. ♡
I've found that I gravitate more to musical theatre, old school hits, Y2K, bossa nova and contemporary music. While I do love me some classical music--it's great for building techniques and strengthening my voice--I find myself more connected to other styles when it comes to performance and expression.
Last semester, I had came across a new upcoming band on my fyp called "After" that makes nostalgic, Y2K inspired pop that fused trip-hop's moody beats with synth-pop's catchy hooks and electropop's electronic soundscapes. The band pulls off the aesthetic so well and their creativity is amazing. Whenever I listen to their song "Outbound" I imagine myself in a early 2000s Disney movie. It's such a catchy song and I always find myself feeling like that main character jamming out to this. It's now my forever go to now.
2. My Walk-In Song
Now, my walk in song for ANYTHING would be "Fire In My Heart" by Escape from New York. I just recently got put on my FYP and the chorus has so much energy. I'm suprised that I've never heard of them and it's crazy how their just now getting recognition for this song (was released back in the 80s). It's like the beat immediately grabs you, the vocals give you that confidence and feels raw. It gives you that feeling that you own the room. It's impossible to not feel hype playing it. Sounds so bad ass.
3. Music I don't really connect with.
Ok so, the one genre I just can't seem to get into is country music. I'm not sure if it's the vocal style or the overall vibe of it. I just can't get with the style. I don't ever find myself reaching for it, and I don't get as hooked by the melodies the way I do with other genres I love. Just not my thing, no hard feelings to country fans though!

Your blog is super cute! I love the theme you went for, and you made it super easy on the eyes. I absolutely love the “Fire In My Heart”, it really is bad ass sounding.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I heard Outbound, it definitely gave early 2000s. It reminds me of the kind of music you would listen to on the Lizzie McGuire show. For the song to be more recent but still have that same Y2K feel is something that a lot of artists have been doing recently.
ReplyDeleteHey Cydni, I love that I got to see more of your interests even though I had already known you for a good minute. Exploring your music tastes was very fun, and I think you have an amazing set and style that you listen to.
ReplyDeleteHi Cydni!! I completely agree with you about country music, it’s definitely not my favorite thing either. I’ve never been able to connect to it in the way that other people seem to be able to. I’ve never heard of After before, but I love 2000s Disney movies so I probably should listen!
